3 Plumbing Tips for Beginners

If you are ready to start doing some of your own plumbing for small fixes around the house, you need to know some of the best tips to get you started. Whether you are wanting to get into plumbing for a career or you are just wanting to be able to fix some smaller issues around your home, these tips are perfect to get you started.

  1. Don’t be afraid to replace small items – While you can easily make a big mess with some repairs, you should not be too afraid to replace small items, such as a toilet flapper or a cartridge in your faucet.
  2. Try fixing clogs without chemicals – Of course, the one way that people tend to try to remove clogs is by using some expensive chemicals that they can get from the grocery store. Instead of using those chemicals, you should actually try to remove a clog with a drain snake. Not only could it get the entire clog out, but it will also help ensure that the clog doesn’t come right back.
  3. Make your water heater work more efficiently – You can easily do this by checking to make sure that the thermostat for the water heater is not set too high. You likely can go down to 115 degrees to still have enough hot water for your needs and you will also save money on your gas or electricity at the same time. Another tip to make this even more efficient is adding in some insulation for your water heater!
